Drawing a motion queen

Human figure is the main element on my illustrations. That's why I always practice it a lot. There is no secret on this issue. Just practice and practice. This is another sketch or study of an illustration than came out from my mind while I was working. I always have paper and pencil on my desktop, so whenever I have some time I grab them and start creating my draws. Check that part of the draw doesn't have any value. You can see the lines I used to build it. The rest are just ornaments and details that I added to the girl.
The girl is in action. Check all the parts of her body are in motion. All the parts in differents directions. Hands, fingers, legs are not in the same positions. Check the fingers on her hands, the legs. She is like dancing. The alien pet is also in motion, all is in movement.

Another sketch of The Queen of the Reptiles.

This is another study of the characters of an illustration. I didn't value the whole draw so you can see the outlines, the action lines and the cylinders I used to build the bodies, legs and arms as I explained before. I have to adjust proportions and shadows. Also, you have to do studies on the rest of the characters. The reptiles have to be done with references. All these sketches are just only a preview of how your illustration will look. They're just studies.

Sketching the Queen of the Reptiles.

This is my next illustration, and this is the first idea. Now I'll get some references of reptiles, guns and famale figure. Since this is a draw that I did by mind, I have to get references so I can adjuct proportions and shadows. Then, I'll do more sketches adding more details and define more the characters. Then, I'll take the best one an redraw it on my final paper.

Sketching...the secret to do a good illustration.

The most important when you start to do your illustration is just to do many sketches. Usually when i have to do an illustration, I have to do at least 8 or 10 roughly sketches before I decide for one. I take the best one, I do adjustment on proportions, perspective, value.... Then I redraw on my clean paper or canvas. That is the final one. Check the small one, it's a simple draw, the first step. This is just sketches.

Do many sketches and then you take the best one.

When you start a new illustration, do many sketches first. Then you take the best one. On this sketch I did a roughly draw first, the smallest one on the draw. And then, I start adding details on my final. The most important when you do your draw is the contruction, the proportions, the balance, the action of it, the rest is just adding ornaments and details.

Drawing the male figure

Here I did another sketch roughly, as a practice. Now a male figure with a female as a background. I value only the right side of the body so you can see at the left the contructive lines i did when i began to do it. Anatomy is one of the main elements that Illustrators should know. Practice a lot, then you can draw by memory without any references.

Sketching girls in action

I did this sketch and followed the same steps that i explained on past posts. First, I did a fast, roughly sketch, a first study. Then, I did a second sketch that I worked more details. I spend many hours during the day doing graphic and web design, so, doing this kind of ideas exercise my creativity.

Sketches of the human figure by memory.

More samples on how I draw the female figure. These sketches are done by memory, without any references. They're done roughly, like brainstorm ideas. Check also the small, simple sketch on each draw to see how i start on doing them.

Calbur: How I draw girls

These are ideas and the first pencil drawings of girls. See, I start doing the action lines, then I draw blocks or cylinders as I did in the arms and legs. Also the fingers are small cylinders. And the head is a ball. See the small, simple sketches on each draw.
